Testing Exemptions

If you do not have to take a placement test, you are exempt. Generally speaking, students who are trying to register for an English or math course must demonstrate to the State of Florida competency in the areas of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics at the college level.

There are three ways to be exempt from testing:听

  • You completed your high school in the State of Florida听
  • You are transferring coursework from another college or university听
  • You have obtained an associate's, bachelor鈥檚, or master鈥檚 degree already听

High School in Florida

You may be exempt from taking the placement test if both following statements are true:听


Four Years of High School in Florida

If you entered the 9th grade in a Florida public high school in the 2003鈥�2004 school year or a year thereafter and graduated in the 12th grade, uninterrupted.听

You graduated, achieving a Standard High School Diploma.听

Previous Educational Coursework

You may be exempt from taking the placement test if the following is true:听


Course Credits from Another Institution
  • The institution has to be regionally accredited.听
  • The Office of the Registrar must evaluate your transcripts and articulate the courses.听
  • Completion of two (2) courses in the areas of humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences with grades of 鈥淐鈥� or higher. For a list of appropriate college-level courses, visit the 听
  • Previously placed into an equivalent 糖心Vlog传媒 English Composition or math course.听
  • Previously placed into an 糖心Vlog传媒 English Composition or math course.听
  • Completion of an exit-level developmental course in Reading, Writing, or Math with a grade of 鈥淐鈥� or higher.
  • Successful completion of EAP 1500, EAP 1520, EAP 1540, and EAP 1560 with a 鈥淐鈥� or higher.

ACTION: Please send an official transcript to our Registrar鈥檚 Office.听

Previous College Degree

You may be exempt from taking the placement test if the following is true:听


Previously Obtained Degree
  • The institution has to be regionally accredited.听
  • The Office of the Registrar must evaluate your transcripts.听
  • Previously earned an Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Science, bachelor鈥檚, or master鈥檚 degree.听
